  Chapter One

Trinity could feel the heat rising in her body before he even touched her. This was the effect he always had on her; they were bound together by something greater than flesh and blood.

Her heart began to race wildly when he placed his hand on her arm and turned her to him. The place where his skin touched hers burned as though he was fire itself. Yet its heat did not harm her, it simply made her need for him more intense.

Her eyes took in his magnificent body, toned and hard as though sculpted from the very stone they stood beneath. She never got used to how he took her breath away, in either form.

Only moments earlier he had descended from the sky, a magnificent creature of muscle and sinew with scales of burnished red giving an impression of living fire when the rays of the sun reflected off them. Trinity had watched him in awe, never tiring of the sight of the creature that was hers, as she was his.

He was the only being in this world that truly cared for her, above all else. Trinity's family had never given a thought to her happiness, she had only ever been something they could trade. When she had become the Dragon Princess, their concern had only been to keep her pure, no thought to her fate at the hands of a dragon. It had been a lesson she had learned harshly in more ways than one.

She shook her head, throwing off thoughts of her past; he was her life now, completely and utterly. His lips descended on hers and she no longer had to cast off any remaining melancholy thoughts. Instead he had chased them away, replacing them with his all consuming passion.

His lips were warm, spreading life and fire through her veins. It seeped into every part of her and she became desperate in her need for him. Flinging her arms around him she drew him close, holding him possessively to her.

He groaned, his hands going to her clothes and he started to remove them, trying to temper his haste, yet still managing to tear her dress. Another patch would be needed to make it whole again, but now she did not care. It inflamed her senses to be needed in such a way by this unique being.

Once she was naked before him he stepped back to gaze at her with reverence. Her whole body responded, a slick heat radiating from her core. She was ready for him to take her to the dizzying heights of pleasure their lovemaking always made her soar to.

“You are so beautiful,” he told her.

She smiled shyly, still a little unused to words like these. He came to her then and scooped her up in his arms before laying her down on the stone altar where he had first mated with her. It brought back memories of the day they had been bound to each other, the memory of her fear of him so distant now. They were not the same people, no longer were they unsure of each other; they loved and trusted each other.

Tonight was a celebration of that bond, for the moon was full and the dragons from the past who accompanied ShanRohit in his thoughts had told him this was the night Trinity would conceive their child. The elder dragons had spent many days and weeks looking for portents, and remembering tales told so very long ago. They had read the star charts and then spent days in silent contemplation before telling ShanRohit this was the time.

While the dragons of the past studied their charts, Trinity and ShanRohit had spent the time alone practising the art of lovemaking. Trinity smiled to herself at all the ways they had found to give pleasure to the other. Now they would share this moment and make a child, a dragon child.

The elders had left them in peace for this moment, closing their minds to ShanRohit. Yet they would rejoice together once the egg was growing inside her.

An egg. Trinity had been scared at the thought of how an egg would get out of her body. She had been assured that the binding ceremony had altered her in such a way that this would not be a problem. They had not given her details though, so she remained unsure.

ShanRohit dropped to his knees before her, worshipping her body with his hands and mouth. First he kissed and stroked her thighs, encouraging her to part them for him. She held her breath as he moved closer and closer to the centre of her arousal, the slick heat increasing with each touch of him against her skin.

At last his tongue slid over her clit, her breath escaping her in one swift gasp. Her hands reached for him and tangled in his thick dark hair, pulling him closer to her. He obliged, as he always did, sliding his tongue lower and licking her sex. Trinity shivered in delight.

Taking his time he licked and nibbled her outer lips before sliding his tongue inside her. Her hips rose off the altar, thrusting her mound into his face. She whimpered softly, lost to the feelings he evoked in her.

His fingers joined his mouth in sending her to a shuddering climax. One finger, then two sliding into her sex while his mouth sucked her clit, his teeth grazing the sensitive little nub. Swollen and wet, her sex throbbed to be filled. The feel of his fingers working their magic, coaxing her towards the edge, and then she crashed over it.

Her hands fisted in his hair, then as the intensity grew she scratched at his back, all the time her voice rose with excitement, spurring him on, although he needed no encouragement.

  ***

He loved the way she reacted to his touch, the way she needed him, it was something he had never expected during his short life.

His number of years walking the earth may have been few, but he was a dragon, grown to adulthood under the careful tutelage of the elder dragons. When he had been bound to Trinity he had not wanted it either, being determined to seduce her before she could be given to him and complete the ritual.

Yet his failure had brought him a mate her loved, and now he could not imagine any kind of life without her. Tonight he hoped their love and loyalty to each other would be rewarded with her conceiving their child.

While he waited for the tremors of orgasm to leave her he stood and watched the emotions playing across her face. She looked at him and smiled, then beckoned to him, she was ready, it was time.

He moved forward, pressing between her thighs, which she opened wider for him. Then he held his hard length firmly in his hand and guided it into her wet, warm sex.

He closed his eyes and savoured the feel of her, the way her tightness gripped him. She yielded to his wide girth, adjusting to his size until he was completely sheathed by her slick heat. Once fully inside her he leaned forward and kissed her breasts, licking and sucking her nipples until she was lost to him again.

Her hands moved down his back, stroking him, touching him, leaving their own heat in their wake. She wrapped her legs around him and pulled him closer to her, and then begged him to take her. As always he obliged, aroused beyond measure by her need for him.

Pulling back, almost completely moving out of her, he paused to let the loss of him register with her before sliding swiftly back into her. The friction between their bodies overwhelming him. He repeated his movement, this time maintain
ing a rhythm that was hard and fast. His self control had gone, now he wanted to take her quickly.

He wanted to plant his seed deep inside her, to create a new life, a life so special to both them and the elders. He was, after all, the last of the living dragons, the last hope of producing an heir to the creatures of flames.

So much was resting on them, but he wanted them both to remember this night as being perfect in every way.

  ***

Over and over again he thrust into her, impaling her on his cock. Trinity felt the throbbing pulse of him, his cock vibrating deep within her. She took him and then wanted more, she could never get enough of him. It was as though he was a drug to which she had an incurable addiction to. Her body rose to meet his, her arms wrapping around his neck, she sat herself up and kissed him fully on the lips.

His pounding did not cease, his tongue explored her mouth, while his cock buried itself in her sex. She felt his climax build, the tension in his body increasing. He reached between them and stroked her clit; she rose higher, almost sitting in his lap.

ShanRohit circled his hips, stretching her wide, then her sex gripped him and began to pulse around his throbbing cock, she was coming, and the message of pleasure passed between them and he let himself go.

His thick warm seed spurted deep inside her, her body contracting to draw it deeper into her womb and so make the baby they both desired. This was it, this was the moment, but the two young people thought only of each other's pleasure as they came.

Only after as they rested in each others arms did they feel the elder dragons. Even Trinity could feel them, it was as though they were purring with pleasure. Trinity and ShanRohit shared a smile of joy, the elders believed they were right, with their tremendous wisdom they were sure Trinity already carried an heir.

Drawing her into his arms he held her close to him, kissing her neck and face. Then he picked her up and carried her to their bed where they slept late into the next day, only waking once to make love again, this time slowly, yet still filled with an undying passion.

  ***

The next day Trinity felt almost shy in front of ShanRohit. She worried he would not feel the same way now she was carrying his child. Even though she knew it was stupid, she could not help herself.

Always she felt insignificant next to him. After all she was simply a plain human, whereas he was a creature of myth and legend. Magnificent to behold, both awe and terror inspiring in one beast.

“Shall we go down to the river to eat breakfast?” he asked.

“Only if it pleases you,” she answered.

“What does that mean? I want only to make you happy, and I know you love the coolness of the water.”

“Then we will go.” Even to Trinity her voice sounded different, but try as she might she was stuck in a mood of what some might call self pity.

“Have I done something to upset you?” In his innocence he was always aware of his lack of experience with people, he depended on her to teach him the ways of humans.

“No, of course not.” Yes, she was snapping at him as though he had done something wrong. Taking a deep breath she steadied herself. “I am sorry, ShanRohit, I feel a little different today, let’s go down to the river, I would be grateful of the cool water, it will soothe my nerves.”

ShanRohit gathered together some food; he had become accustomed to eating with her even though he preferred his food a little more raw, and bloody. He packed some bread and fruit, along with some nuts he had gathered yesterday.

Once satisfied he had everything they needed, he shimmered into a dragon and Trinity climbed onto his back. This was one of her favourite things, soaring high into the sky on the back of her dragon. At this point her mood cleared and she felt the thrill and wonder of his flight seep into her body.

He took them over the valley which sprawled out beneath the mountain where they lived in chambers hewn out of the solid rock many thousands of years ago. They slowly descended down towards the river, which at first seemed like a shining ribbon threading its way through the green foliage, before becoming bigger and wider the closer they got to the ground.

With hardly a bump he landed in a small clearing before shimmering into a man before her eyes. She smiled at him, the earlier tension gone, and then handed him his clothes. Not that she minded looking at his naked body.

Once dressed he took the basket filled with food and they walked hand in hand down to the river.

“Thank you for bringing me here,” Trinity said placing a blanket on the ground and sitting down.

“It seemed such a beautiful morning, and I know this is your favourite spot.” He accepted some bread from her and they sat in silence eating.

Trinity took off her shoes and dangled her feet in the cool water. “Our son will enjoy growing up here.”

“Our son,” he looked excited, “Do you believe the elders were right?”

“I thought they were always right,” she teased, feeling like her old self once more.

“Not always, but they were certain they had read the signs correctly.” He stopped moving for a moment and seemed to be listening to someone speak, even though they were alone.

He did this often; the elder dragons spoke to him in his thoughts. Trinity had found this strange to begin with, but now she had grown accustomed to it and felt comforted by their contact and wise words.

“ShanRohit, would you ask the elders when I would know I had conceived our child?” asked Trinity.

ShanRohit was silent again for a few minutes, his expression one of concentration. Then his expression brightened, he looked pleased. “They said they believe your behaviour earlier was a sign you successfully conceived, as they had foretold.”

  “My behaviour?”

“Yes, your mood changed so quickly, they believe the flame already burns inside of you.”

Trinity looked down at her flat stomach and placed her hand over it protectively. Could it be true that she was already with child? That she would soon be the mother of the flame, bound to the dragons in more ways.

In her heart she felt it was true, but dared not believe it so soon. In human she knew it took weeks to be certain you had fallen pregnant. How could she possibly know within hours?

Pleased at how excited ShanRohit was at the prospect of her breeding the next dragon she sat and ate her breakfast with a smile on her face. They made idle talk, both avoiding the subject of children for now. It would take a little while for the news to truly sink in.

After they finished eating they lay on the grass watching the clouds drift by. Suddenly there was a loud bang in the distance and a hazy smoke filled the air. The dragon was being summoned, her old home, the city of Shadole, was in danger.

Why today when they wanted to lie here in each other's company with the news of their child so new?

Yet the dragon was bound to the people of the city, just as she was bound to him. Trinity had been the gift, and he had accepted her and with her the right for the city to call on the dragon as protector.

He had not been summoned often, and then he had beaten off the marauders coming in from the sea easily. The last attack had been about two months ago, they had believed the Galvanian Marauders had learned that they could not beat the dragon and had given up on attacking the city.

The smoke signal indicated they had not, or else the alarm was for some other reason, perhaps a different kind of attack. It could be barbarians, they attacked their borders too, but this was a rare event, the city was too fortified for their hit and run tactics.

ShanRohit got up and together they quickly packed everything away. “Would you like me to take you back home before I go?”

“Yes, I have my dress to mend,” she looked at him coyly; he smiled, remembering their love making. “I can find other jobs to do to keep me occupied while you are away.”

She went to him and embraced him, pulling him close to her, she knew they only had a few moments before he would have to change into the dragon and go to the
aid of the city. But he returned her embrace, holding her tightly, possessively.

“Do not worry, I will be back before you have time to miss me.” He kissed her firmly on the lips, his tongue pushing gently to part them and allow her access.

“ShanRohit, you must go!” Trinity pushed him firmly away. “There will be time for that when you return.”

He released her and shimmered into the dragon and she pulled herself up onto his back, settling into place and holding on tightly while he took off with two huge beats of his wings. Then with a great leap they were soaring up through the surrounding trees and heading back to their home.

In seconds they were on the ledge, he quickly set her down and then turned and leaped high into the air and flapped his wings hard to gain the height he needed to get himself out of the valley. The ring of mountains that circled the valley kept them safe. No intruder could scale the great slopes of the mountains; it was why the dragons had settled here.

No man had ever conquered the great mountains. Until now.

  Chapter Two

Trinity stood and watched ShanRohit rise into the air and slowly disappear. He had not spared the time to transform into his human form before he had left, so they had not said goodbye.

She tried to comfort herself that he had left her before and always returned in one piece. However, this time, she struggled to calm herself. Trinity thought of the baby that the elder dragons had said was already growing inside of her, and put her distress down to that. He truly was influencing her moods already.

Trying to keep her mind off ShanRohit, and what might await him in the city, she went inside and began to sweep out their chambers. It was not richly furnished, considering the magnificent beast that lived there, but it was their home, and she loved it.

Trinity began to think of where a child would sleep and whether a dragon child would need toys and playthings. While she pushed the dirt out towards the entrance she imagined what it would be like to have a youngster running around.
